Zafar Iqbal Kalanauri, Advocate Supreme Court of Pakistan, brings a wealth of experience and expertise in the legal and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) domain. As the Senior Partner at Zafar Kalanauri & Associates since 1986, he has been a prominent figure in the legal landscape. Zafar is also recognized as an Arbitrator, Mediator, White Collar Crime Investigator, and a dedicated reformist in the fields of Legal System and Legal Education.

 

With a solid educational background, including an M.A. in Social Sciences and an L.L.B. from the University of Punjab, Zafar's professional journey spans over three decades. His extensive knowledge is complemented by language proficiency in Urdu, English, Punjabi, Pothohari, and Saraiki.

 

Zafar's dedication to the legal community is evident through his active involvement in various professional bodies. He is the Chairman of the Structural Committee on Legal Education Commission and Vice President of the Pakistan Mediators Association. Zafar serves on the Steering Committee of the National Law University and is a member of the Mediation Committee at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

 

In his honorary role as an ADR Expert and Master Trainer, Zafar has made significant contributions. He played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry Mediation Centre, working closely with both the Lahore High Court and LCCI. Zafar is also a Consultant and Advisor to the Chief Justice of Lahore High Court on the implementation of the World Bank ADR Centre and Court-annexed ADR Centers across Punjab.

 

Beyond his legal practice, Zafar has been instrumental in shaping legal education. As an Adjunct Professor of Law at institutions like Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and Punjab University Law College, he has formulated courses in Business Law, Commercial Law, and ADR Curriculum.

 

Zafar's commitment to ADR extends internationally, having participated in the International Mediation Competition in the UK and the International Online Mediation Competition organized by ADR ODR International. His expertise has earned him positions on panels of arbitration and mediation organizations both in Pakistan and abroad.

 

A prolific author, Zafar has published over 200 articles in leading law journals, covering legal, political, human rights, and social issues. He has also been actively involved in drafting legislation, including the ADR Act, 2017, Punjab ADR Act, 2019, and Punjab ADR Rules 2020.
