Sardar Qasim Farooq Ali

Mr. Sardar Qasim Farooq Ali is the founder and managing partner of the firm ‘Awan Ali’. While studying LLB at the Punjab University, Lahore, he interned at the Cornelius, Lane, and Mufti (1995-1996). After completing his Bachelors in 1996, he got enrolled in the LLM program by the Cardiff University on the International Arbitration, Corporate Governance, and Intellectual Property. After graduating in 1999 he joined the Southern Electric Power Company as a Legal Consultant where he worked for about a year. Out of his zeal for knowledge he also did an external foundation course from the University of London.

Mr.Ali joined the Hafeez Pirzada Law Associates in November 1999, where he assisted the Supreme Court of Pakistan on the applicability of International arbitration clause in the power purchase agreement in HUBCO v WAPDA. He successfully represented many firm clients including multi-nationals before the civil and high courts during his tenure there. In 2003, he joined the Sardar Qasim Law Associates where he regularly assisted Justice Qayyum and other senior counsels before the Hon’able Supreme Court of Pakistan in the most high-profile cases. Because of his extensive expertise in drafting he successfully drafted an exhaustive 50 pages Franchise Agreement, the first of its kind in Pakistan, and a comprehensive Share Purchase Agreement for First National Equities Limited.

As founder and managing partner at Awan Ali, his fields of expertise are Litigation in corporate/commercial matters, Constitution, Oil & Gas, Energy, Arbitration, Banking, and Administrative Law. He has several reported judgments to his credit. He regularly represents the marketing companies against public sector companies before various high courts and OGRA. He played a vital role in getting the LPG Policy 2016 implemented and for the amendments to LPG Rules 2001. He is regularly nominated by the SNGPL since 2014 to act as an arbitrator in high-value commercial disputes and also as a counsel in multiple arbitrations. He represents the Polish Oil and Gas Company as lead counsel before various forums in disputes involving commercial issues and tenders. He regularly represents the BOP and HBL in disputes involving complicated questions of law and fact. He also represents the Stock Exchange Corporate Member Firm in dispute relating to fraud.
